Favorite "old" Movie

In addition to many of the ones named already, anything with Bette Davis ("Voyager," "All About Eve," "Jezebel," etc.), "Double Indemnity" with Barbara Stanwyck, "Witness for the Prosecution" with Marlene Dietrich, and you have to love "Mildred Pierce" with Joan Crawford.

I cry every time I see it.

You must be one of the older DCUM posters! Seriously, this movie was quite the Lana Turner "dramatic vehicle!" I've always cried during this movie as well--they really developed the characters and their intertwined relationships. Juanita Moore's acting and portrayal of a mother's never ending love for her child was superb, and Mahalia Jackson's singing at the funeral so moving.

Oh, you've named some of the best! We must like the same types of movies--well drawn characters. If one of my sisters or I ever say anything that seems a bit self-centered, our family joke line is, "Oh, Veda, Veda, Veda!" (spoken with MUCH drama!)

Maybe not old enough but Annie Hall (1977), What's UP Doc? (1972), Paper Moon (1973). Definately qualifying as old movies-All About Eve, The Bad Seed and of course GWTW.

Can't believe I forgot that one-apparently Sophia was the true love of Cary although there are still rumours to this day that Cary Grant was gay.

Meet me in St Louis
Singing in the rain
Easter parade
Harvey girls
Anchors away
Brigadoon

Just to name a few...

Has anyone else heard of these other then the obvious ones? Such great movies!

I love all of those and my dad got my name from Brigadoon.

I was born in 1978 and I don't consider those to be old movies.

I'm only 26.. I went through this huge musical phase, so a couple of my favorites are South Pacific and Fiddler on the Roof. I also like Wizard of Oz, It's a Wonderful Life and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory.. I don't know if they're old enough, or if they count, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE all the old Christmas specials that come on every year... (I'm probably showing a little bit of ignorant youth here I'm sure)
