FWIW, when ds was born at Shady Grove we had to bring the car seat up to our room so the nurse could see we had one. Noone checked the car.

Good for you. I hope there's no drama involved, for your sake.

What is that suppose to mean? This woman was told that the police have been ticketing in the neighborhood at a speed trap. Should the police pull her over it will be her own fault, not mine.

Well, if she gets caught at a speed trap, fine. If the police sit around the corner and wait for her, then she'll know who called them.

She could have an airbag shut off switch in the front seat. Did she mention if she did?

Infant seats DO NOT need a base and can be strapped into the seat directly. Actually, they are marginally safer strapped to the seat and not in the base bc the latches on the bases that hold the seat can fail.

Riding in the front seat may not be optimal but if the air bag is deactivated, I think its better than a mom who is trying to drive and then turn around and upset trying to attend to her screaming baby. Back in the 80s/90s before passenger side air bags were standard it was advised that all rear facing infant seats MUST be put in the front seat and I believe it was stamped on the seat instructions. I am not sure if it was actually part of the law but it was very rare back then to see an infant seat or a rear facing car seat in the back seats.
