Turning down HGC?

Thank you for the insight. My child is going to HGC this fall and, after reading your posts, I am confident that she will like the program. We are very excited!

In the end, we did decide to turn down HGC. Our child will get the 2 yrs ahead math he needs at home school and he really isn't the type of personality who wants to discuss and be verbal.

He was really turned off to HGC during the visit and is extremely happy at his home school, which can provide him what he needs, including peer group and afterschool activities that he loves. Hopefully in trusting his instincts, we're doing the right thing. I'm sure we'll never really know, but it is only elementary school!

Can I ask which HGC you turned down ?

Turned down Pine Crest. In truth, we know many, many people who are very happy with the school and many others going there next year and excited about it. If it was our other child, we might have accepted. But for this child, forcing him into the school wasn't the right thing.

I don't want to pry, but could I ask why Pine Crest wasn't right for this child?
