Yes, everybody says Dutch is derived from German. I just wondered how many feathers I would ruffle if I claimed it to be the otherway around.

I am a staunch believer that German derived from Dutch and I do not speak Dutch, but I am free to believe this if I want and that is that

Hey, believe either way. They are probably equally false, since both probably derived from some common forbear, just as French and Spanish derived from Latin, not one from the other.

Anyway, I think that's what the linguistic evolutionists claim. As most people know, God created them all at Babel. It just doesn't make sense to think all these complex languages arose by some random process.

They don't have to "flock" here. By law (as I think it should be), if a child enters public school and needs ESL services, we evaluate and provide those services. I was just trying to show that it can be hard/expensive to do right by each child.

When children of American immigrants start school in Germany or Austria or France or Italy, they are provided with similar services. Actually the services thos American kids get are better than the ones available here.
The American kids attending European schools even get a better education than the European immigrants here.

Well, with the teachers being dumped by the republicans, maybe education-wise this nation will soon be competing with Uganda.

English is the language of business and the preferred foreign language world-wide. French being the language of the world lasted longer than spats but ceased being so for the past 60-70 years.

There are no European immigrants left in the USA. That ended a long time ago when Kennedy changed the immigration laws to include everyone. Now the quality of life in Europe has surpassed American life, so there is no need for them to come here.

And the European education system has surpassed Americas. The people are more educated
Those that do come, come to gain job experience that they need to pursue international careers. Few of them stay. One person said that there really was not anything that pulled at her heartstrings to make her want to stay or to get to know the place better.
I follow the blogs of some. It is nice to hear how they settle back home and the stories of their next travels
