Can't stand some wives of presidential candidates and present first lady

That's reality. Mrs. Obama could choose to adopt a "plainer" public image and foreground her work.

Right, and then you'd be complaining that she wasn't fashionable enough!

Whose reality? The viewing audience of Real Housewives of DC?

On the related topic of presidential daughters, Barbara Bush has come out for marriage equality. Definitely my favorite Bush!

Gotta love Barb with her drab blue cloth coat and her splayed open bandy legs. She smells of elderberries up close. It's not unpleasant.

Why are we supposed to like the wives or care about them, or their children?

I am an "R" but I like Michelle for being a good mom. She really puts the kids first and doesn't try to integrate herself into the administration like Hillary did. She also did the right thing by bringing her mother to live at the White House and help.

As far as her fashion goes, I approve of that too. If my arms looked like hers I'd want to show them off.

PP sounds like Hannibal Lector. A joke?

It's a lesbian unwittingly bringing herself and her kind down with disgusting remarks. Or else it's a guy. Or a lesbian hater.

Oh come on! I was referring to her hilariously unlady-like way of sitting with her legs wide open. YUCK! I was speaking of her perfume and making a stupid Monty Python reference. Not her her pie smell. Not that there is anything wrong with that, if you like that sort of thing. Wow.

I'm going to go hurl now, thanks very much. No more posting to Dcum while jet-lagged.

"Here’s my problem with Mrs. Obama: I want her to be known for something other than her fashion. I want her to be a great first lady who truly cares about the lives of Americans at the time when many need help....She supports a number of causes, notably healthful eating habits, but these deeds are being overshadowed by what she wears. Only she can change that perception. In March 2009, The Economist ran an excellent article about our new first lady that expressed the concern that she might become better known for her fashion rather than for her opinions. Unfortunately, that seems to be happening."

The saddest thing is that she really doesn't wear her clothes well. Jackie Kennedy, she ain't.

What is Michelle Obama doing that is important? Telling parents to stop feeding their kids junk food and fast food junk? This is obvious. She isn't teaching children to read, write, etc.

Chill a little. If you can do Monty Python, others can do Gervais. Don't take it personally.

BTW, hope you had a good trip.

I like Michelle because I don't have the impression she gives a rats ass about any stupid liberal causes like "global warming" or "the rainforests"and thatmakes her OK in my book.

I agree that she cares nothing about any of the above causes. I think the only thing that she truly cares about is herself.

Um, what is she supposed to do? Not wear clothes?

I prefer how the Clintons took vacations. The Obama's are wasteful and out of touch with reality- Going to Europe and Marthas Vineyard during a recession and the gulf crisis? I voted democratic my entire life- Until the last election. (I live in California so it's not like my vote counted). Obama is wasteful and a complete disappointment. I'm entitled to an opinion, as are you.

If you live in CA, why are you on DCUM?
