The virus thing is HUGE. Exactly like a PP said, at work there is a team of folks keeping up with that, at home not so much. I had horrible trouble on my PC even with installed software, not so with Mac. That is the main reason I got a Mac. It is just very user-friendly and I just love it. I don't do graphics or anything, just go online, and use stuff like Word for work.

I'm so surprised that I'm in such a minority for hating my Mac. Maybe it's because I still have to use a PC at work so it's just too annoying for me to keep switching back and forth. I'm sure I will get used to it eventually but it's just not as intuitive as everyone made it out to be. And it's no faster than my work PC.

The question is what would I use a PC for? Seriously, my only answer would be complicated excel sheets because I know more shortcuts and habits on microsoft than apple's version. But for basic excel I'm fine with my mac.

OP here again. Okay, I'm pretty sure I'm going for the MacBook Pro at this point and if I have any problems figuring anything out - which my husband has already warned me, "Don't come crying to me because I'm not going to help you...I don't know Macs, I know PCs - I wanted you to get a PC..." it's going to be the fault of everyone on this thread who told me they how much they love their Mac!

I AM the world's biggest luddite. I went through a decade of supershitty PCs. Even the "good" ones sucked! This year, I finally broke down and bought a mac even though I HATE how culty it is.

It took a while to get used to it, but I will never
ever

buy a PC ever again.

I hate every second that I have to use my office laptop, a PC.

Macs are seriously everything they're cracked up to be. My computer NEVER misbehaves!

Am I the only Fedora/Linux home user on this thread?

I prefer a Mac for home, but for office - definitely PC. I have a hard time on a Mac trying to figure out the folders for Office.

OP. This is actually one of the main frustrations I had the last time I had a Mac before I got my Lenovo. But when I was in the Apple store the other day it seemed to make more sense and frankly seemed odd to me that I owned the thing for like three years and couldn't figure out the filing system. I mean, I'm a fairly intelligent person and how hard can it be? But then again, I guess we all have our challenges because the thread on the inner loop vs. outer loop confusion to me is baffling (in a funny way). Anyhooskie, I'm giving it another shot. And agree that I think it makes me feel better knowing that it will mainly be for personal "fun" use and not something I need to "work" with everyday.

I can't figure out how to make it run faster. Any suggestions Mac afficionado's?

I'm a PC-user who has also used Macs at work. One thing I could never get used to was the no-right-click thing with the mouse. Are you over that? How long does it take to get over that? I feel like I right click on things all the time! I just don't know if I could give that up!

Isn't cntrl + click?

Yes. Also, you can tap with two fingers, at least on the newer ones.
