+1 I've never herd of having to buy a gift for a neighbor because they're moving and I've never expected a gift when I've been the one moving. |
Politics & Prose had good DC themed tea towels last time I checked. A tea towel is a good present because it's practical, small and light. |

I would NOT want a Starbucks mug under any circumstances. Please don't gift this.

| I’d wait and see if there are issues with renters first, before I plan a parting gift to someone renting their house. Neighbors could be in for trouble. |
| Give them a broom & dust pan to clean up the mess the renters will leave behind. |
These are cute, useful, and pack up small. I really like DC artist Marcella Kriebel who has beautifully painted designs for tea towels, posters, and magnets. https://marcellakriebel.com/collections/washington-dc-illustrated-watercolor-art-prints-artwork |

FWIW, when we moved out of the country, I appreciated some DC-themed items that were given to us as going-away gifts! Thought it was super thoughtful, and we also displayed them in our new home.
OP - think it's very nice that you're thinking of this sort of gift, and I like the mug idea. |
THIS. The only moving gifts I give are Home Depot or Lowes gift certificates as they will need to do stuff to their new home for sure. |
