Thanks for your opinion on my ideas, I guess. What are your suggestions? |

Thanks PPs! They are moving to Delaware. For why did I want to bring a gift - I was torn, I didn’t want to show up to the party empty handed either.
Thanks everyone for recs too! |
| The Made in DC shop is definitley a good move. |
| Someone who is moving doesn’t want more stuff. No gift necessary. |
| I despise Starbucks. |
I bought two of the DC cherry blossom starbucks mugs for my friend when she was moving away. |
| Is this a gift for them to take with them or to leave in the rental house? Honestly, the last thing I would want when moving is more things especially glassware to pack. If they’re moving within the US, a gift card to use on restaurants or Costco would probably bring more joy and get more immediate use. |
These are excellent suggestions! |
Omg no. I received a DC-shaped cheeseboard once, it’s basically unusable lol. The dish towel I got w the DC stars and stripes was cute though. I would get something from nakeddecor com. https://www.nakeddecor.com/product/cheeky-tote-bag-toile-de-dc/ https://www.nakeddecor.com/product/cheeky-tote-bag-spring-in-dc/ https://www.nakeddecor.com/?s=Dc+coasters |

I’m the PP who said
Nobody needs more mugs. The idea of a map of the neighborhood with everyone signing it is super nice. It’s meaningful, it’s not bulky, and it’s unique. Do this! |
| Can you get them something for the old city and the new city? Most cities have merch you can find that isn't from Starbucks. |
+1 something consumable is better |
| Depends on where they are moving - could limit the ability to take food or liquids. We moved 7 times with the military and we were trying to give away all of our spices, sauces, alcohol, etc. I just appreciated a hearty farewell and promise to stay in touch! No gifts. |
This is the only answer. |
| Made in DC has stuff from local artists. I'd do that over Starbucks. Add some coffee from a local shop, too. |
