Is this logic flawed?

We love Vans - they are a good quality and at the outlet they are $15-20. I don't like stride rites - the look, style or hard soles. Nor would I spend $50 on one pair of shoes - rather have 2-3 pairs as one pair doesn't go with all outfits. Our Target pair were $4/clearance, but they are dressier and I got them for non-jean outfits only.

I have boys and recently moved north from DC. While in DC, my kiddos had only 1 pair of shoes at a time. Now that they will be playing outside in cold/wet/snow types of weather I just bought boots for all of them as well.

3 year old has

1 sneaker
1 brown shoes
1 black shoes
1 boots
1 rain boots
1 red shoes
1 white dress shoes

this doesn't include the summer stock of shoes. This is only what she is currently wearing for winter.

She has another 3-4 pairs of summer shoes

1 pair flip flops
1 nice pair sandals
1 pair sneakers

DS, age 2 has 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair flipflops, and 1 hand-me-down boot (the singular is not a typo). Clearly I need to get him a rain/snow show.

I am the parent of another XW-footed child, so I didn't need to be indoctrinated into a cult to buy $50+ Stride-Rites. They are the only place to buy XW shoes, period. I have gone to the outlet before but couldn't fit it into my schedule this time. At 23 months, he is on his third pair of real, non-Robeez shoes - currently brown velcro sneakers. This round is the first time I have picked up another pair - only because I found a pair in his ridiculously-hard-to-find size at one of the consignment shops. So he also has a pair of navy lace-up sneakers.

23mo DS has two pairs of sneakers (a primary and a backup for when one gets soaked/dirty, which is often), a pair of sandals which I bought on a whim this summer and he loved, and snow boots, which DH bought around the snow storm last winter and are a couple sizes too big. Like the PP, we've gone with Stride Rite because DS has wide feet (like mom).
