How many pairs of shoes does your toddler have?

16 m.o. DS has 1 pair of outdoor shoes (leather sneakers), 1 pair of slippers for home (if they count), and 1 pair of winter boots.

I agree with the logic Our DS is still pretty small, but I definitely don't have the urge to buy him shoes like I did with DD at this age... I can see myself only having one or two pairs of sneakers and a dressy pair for him when he is bigger.

I'd agree with boy/girl effect. I also think a DC's wardobe in the youngest years is more a reflection of the parents' own preferences. I've got a DS with only 2 pair of shoes, but he has multiple grossly-overpriced football & hockey jerseys. It's no surprise I was a tomboy with little interest in shoes.

We had three pairs of shoes for DD at 18 months -- one pair of sneakers and two pairs of white shoes/closed-toe sandals.

Now at 2.5, we still have three pairs of shoes, but she'll only wear the sneakers. EVERY DAY. I'm debating whether to buy a second pair, but figure her feet will soon grow to the next size anyway.

Thanks for all the replies! I think I'll hold off on the second pair of sneakers but will consider the slippers for around the house.

My 15 month old DD has 1 pair of shoes. She was growing so fast I was buying a new size shoe every 3-4 weeks and I couldn't justify buying more than 1 pair at a time. Now she seems to have hit a growth plateau and I think it's time to get her another pair or two.

My 18 month old has 2 pairs, one dark colored, one light colored.

Gosh my DS (about to turn two) has only 1 pair -- he had a pair of sandals in the summer but now we're down to just one. Don't see a need for slippers since he wears socks in the house.

He's on his third pair of "real" shoes....and with the previous two he outgrew them when they were still in decent s hape, so I never thought about buying more than one pair! But maybe I should -- one brown and one navy...hmmm.....

My daughter had only one pair of shoes for a long time. Now she's two and obsessed with shoes, so I've gone a bit overboard on the shoes from Payless. So now she's got about 6 pairs of shoes and boots. She mostly wears her tennis shoes to school, but for parties and special stuff or just dress up at home, she'll wear her embroidered skechers or her pink princess shoes or her shearling-lined fake UGGs.

My 2.5 year old DS has one pair of nice suede sneakers and a pair of crocs. I think if he were a she I'd also buy a pair of cute mary janes or something too.

2.5 DS every season has a pair of sneakers, pair of loafers and two pairs of Rainbow flip flops. Pretty much the same shoes as DH just in little boy sizes. We are expecting DD in less than two months and I already know I will have 5-10 pairs per season. Like PP said though some will be $10 from target. I just am fairly anal about fashion and will want a few different pairs of mary janes

Sandals for summer
Sneakers for school year
Snow boots for winter fun

Boy - 2 pair of vans sneakers - dad bought - slip on and velcro - they are so cute, one pair of clearance other non-sneakers, too big croc's, one pair of soft sole shoes and he needs to get a pair of boots.

Question for those parents who have a lot of shoes and get them cheaply like at target or payless -- I hadn't done this because I thought you had to have good quality shoes on growing feet...so part of the reason my kid only has one pair of shoes is because they're $50 stride rites. Is this logic flawed?

I'm with the PP. My 16-month-old DD has one pair of $50 stride rites, a cheap backup pair for daycare, and a pair of rain boots.
