Spaghetti strap dresses on older women

I don’t even wear sleeveless shorts.
I don’t like exposing my flabby upper arms.

I am just over 60 and all of a sudden, my arms are crepey, my breasts have grown and my chest looks sun damaged. I’m still very physically fit and a healthy weight, but the body is changing regardless. Oh the joy….. in any event a little sleeve and more coverage look better on me now.

I know a woman who is close to 60 and is in great shape, I mean, like massively cut and thin. She wears revealing clothes all the time and drives a Porsche 9-11. I don't care what anyone says she looks ridiculous, like trying too hard, refuses to understand she isn't in her 20s or even 30s.

That said, I think if you're normal weight and don't have the crepe-ish arms, wrinkled chest and giant breasts, spaghetti strap dress seems fine.

I mean…classy women dress their age and for the occasion and tend to shy away from showing too much skin.

While an older woman might opt for a spaghetti strap sundress for the beach or resort, it really doesn’t seem to be appropriate for a graduation.

I will be flamed for saying this, but I think it’s extremely trashy and inelegant for older women to wear revealing clothing, particularly “young” style clothing which spaghetti straps almost always are.

It’s all relative of course. I can imagine a 45 - 55 year old in a stunning strapless gown looking great. But some type of thin day time spaghetti strap sundress? Leave it to the 25 year olds.

I am usually very conservative as far as clothing choices and dressing your age but I am really surprised to see all this hate for spaghetti straps as so young!

If think 50 year olds should wear or ever wore spaghetti straps to a graduation, then you are not a conservative dresser.

Happened to me as well. Not sure why my breasts picked now to grow but here we are. I'll wear a sleeveless dress, even with my small bat wings on my arms, but draw the line at clothes which need a strapless bra now.

Part of it may be that I don’t think of graduations as being very fancy events. It may also be that as someone with no cleavage, I don’t think of these as very sexy dresses. Like I wouldn’t wear a miniskirt but showing my shoulders seems like NBD.

I’m 55 and feel like this happened to me within the past year. So I wouldnt wear spaghetti straps.

I know many posters have said their arms are toned, but I don’t see many women over age 50 who have great muscle and skin tone in their arms (I attend yoga and pilates multiple times per week, and see a lot of middle aged women in tank tops!).

55+ and same.

It seemed to happen overnight. My legs have always had cellulite, now they have cellulite AND crepey skin.

And I have the fullest breasts I've had in years. It's weird!

Same. I pulled on shorts in yesterday's heat and ... whoa. Took some doing to just get myself out the door just to walk my dog.

My boobs are massive. I am the same weight I've been for years, but somehow my boobs have grown.

I knew we were hiding flapping biceps, but now I need to be self conscious about my speckled chest?

This is not new? Women all over the world have been avoiding and hiding sun damage for centuries.

43, clear chest, thin toned arms and very small bust. I wear spaghetti strap sundresses and tank tops all summer. When my arms go flabby and my chest looks like a bird’s egg, I’ll stop.
