| They’re sort of in the same category as babydoll dresses to me. Something I have outgrown. |
| It’s the bra issue for me. I have such a problem with strapless bras and going braless is a non-starter. |
| I have axillary breast tissue under my arms ["tail of Spence,"] and most sleeveless tops or spaghetti straps expose it . Very few manufacturers construct garments with fabric cut to cover this area properly. |
No, not tacky. Trashy is more like it. |

| I don't wear spaghetti straps because I want to wear a real bra, but I do go sleeveless all the time. |
|
Spaghetti straps at a graduation isn’t appropriate attire for women in their 40s-50s. If you want to wear spaghetti straps, save it for casual, everyday attire, or fancy events.
|
Showing bra straps looks cheap and tacky. Now multiply that by many times if you’re in your 40s and 50s. |
| I wear them. My chest is gorgeous and smooth and unblemished with no wrinkles but I do have batwings. Don't care. |
|
I remember my mom being embarrassed to show her arms, definitely since her 40s. I also remember the norm that spaghetti straps weren't appropriate for dressy events without a cardigan or something covering your shoulders. Even those tiny short sleeves ones. Showing bra straps was considered "showing your underwear" and very inappropriate ever.
I'm 40 now and I do wear sleeveless and spaghetti strap stuff, but I still wear strapless bras and would probably bring a sweater for a graduation. I think there are different modesty expectations at play across generations. |
|
I wear them, but also have a fairly small chest.
If you need a supportive bra, it's hard to wear anything that has thin straps. |
And, even though I wear them elsewhere, I wouldn't wear spaghetti straps to a graduation, probably a more covered sleeveless dress. |
+1 more for going out or for a wedding if a fancy dress |
| To me, spaghetti straps are a young look. I am not offended by the look, just not my thing. |
|
The straps need to be wide enough to hide my bra. also, it I get the dress over my shoulders, the bottom is like a boat.
Who decided that the bottom is 2-3 inches bigger than the top? I'm 3 inches bigger on the top. I can wear wrap dresses mostly. |
