Why do more women not wear these? Because they don't like their arms and have sun damage on their chest?
Everyone I see at graduation and other spring events now is quite covered up, and I'm talking about women in their late 40s and early 50s. I don't want to stop wearing sundresses and I'm not going to. |
| How are your arms and chest skin? |
| Be the change you wish to see... |

Crepey, flabby arms.
I am the opposite and have really good arms but short, thick, lumpy legs so I keep them covered. |
|
OP here. My arms are fine. A little larger than I'd like but no crepey skin, and my chest is smooth.
I think I'm going to go for it. It just feels like the younger generation is so exposed and all of a sudden, the older generation is so covered up. |
| Do whatever you want Op. Most people are a good judge of what they look best in. |

Many of us have also gotten a matronly chest - a sturdy bra is essential and you can’t hide that under spaghetti straps.
Also, at 53 I just don’t feel like I need to be on display, you know? I don’t particularly like how I look, but beyond that I just find sleeves very nice. I don’t have to worry about burning, I’m not too cold, etc. So it’s about comfort. If you like spaghetti straps, wear them! No reason on earth you shouldn’t if you like them. |
| I don't wear them often because I don't want to mess with a strapless bra on a day to day basis. Fine for a formal evening every now and then but I am not bothering with that to walk the dog and go on a Target run. Also not a huge fan of the sun exposure. |
Same. My arms and chest look fine but I hate wearing a strapless bra. So no spaghetti straps for me. |

| Another in agreement. I want to wear a normal bra. |
| I am 51 and wear them all the time. But I have no sun damage on my upper chest and back and I'm thin and don't have giant boobs. All of these are reasons I think a lot of women this age don't wear them. |

I'm 46 and have great tone and clear skin, but the clothes I buy just don't come with spaghetti straps, OP, apart from a couple of tank tops. I wouldn't mind showing my bra straps, they're not ugly and I don't think bra straps are intrinsically inappropriate. It just doesn't happen very often...
I have a top with an open back, though (and a special lace bra to go with it), and regularly wear short shorts and mini skirts. |
| 56, 30DDD, must wear a supportive bra after breastfeeding 3 kids, and that doesn't work with spaghetti straps |
|
I’m 53 and still wear them if weather appropriate. My arms are fine. The potbelly I’ve acquired with menopause and my sagging jowls are a different problem.
I have a tube top style strapless bra that I got from soma that is sooooo comfortable and stays up really well. |
