Red line closures this summer

Listening to WMATA public meeting.

1. Local shuttles will run between each station from North Bethesda to Friendship Heights. Local shuttles will run every 8 minutes, supposedly.

2. There will also be express shuttles that will go directly from NB to FH without stopping at the other stations.

3. There will be dedicated bus lanes at key high traffic segments along Wisconsin to shave off shuttle commute time. Their studies show that it won't affect the rest of vehicular traffic by more than a couple of minutes.

4. Someone repeatedly asked whether they could extend the route of bus 101 and similar, instead of spending on ad hoc shuttles, but the panel so far has not responded.

And someone responded that they cannot extend bus route 101 due to staffing constraints.

Forest Glen lot fills up early now. Wheaton or DTSS are better bets.

Forest Glen is my regular station. Not very excited about this.

Another option is MARC from Kensington or Garrett Park and switching to the Metro at Union Station.

LOL—“this summer.” Were any special benefits offered during the Red Line closures in 2024? No?? And that was under the Biden Administration. You expect a handout from Trump?

Forest Glen is a small lot in a very Fed heavy neighborhood and closest to a couple popular day camps. We already went through this when our side of the line was closed a while back. I can’t take another summer of disruption.

Telework was offered during Biden's administration.

Telework was offered during Biden's administration.

But not specifically for workers affected by WMATA station closures. There were no special handouts for those on the east side of the Red Line and likewise, those on the west side will get nothing.

It would depend on your supervisor and agency. Now the directive is coming from the top of the administration not to allow any telework, no exceptions.
