I like the Chicago 20, 30 years when the acceptance rate is 30, 40%. Everyone at that time knew it's a serious school.

This table is misleading without providing more context and explanation.

UChicago's crazy 88% yield rate is a result of taking 80% of the class ED.

Which means they take in less competitive candidates, it's also going to impact their ranking.

It means no such thing. It means that they are taking candidates who meet their standards and are committed to Chicago. It's more efficient and I expect that more and more schools will move in this direction in the future.

Northeastern ranked #26 including LACs.

No, modestly average students will have slim chance for anything.

Chicago ranked #4.

Plenty of brilliant students don't see the value in the drama and choose to apply ED to excellent schools that are more straightforward.
Harvard even got sued for the drama and lost at the Supreme Court.

Vanderbilt, UPenn, etc. etc. had 50% 60% 70% acceptance rates little earlier than that.
