3/26 Board of Ed meeting live thread

Maloo doesn't get this isn't going to give more equity as there aren't going to be the slots and there will still be transportation issues.

If you’re reading this don't like what Montoya has to say, you’re clearly who she was talking to. YOU are part of the problem.

What are you talking about?

SMOB is supporting Taylor’s recommendation.

She doesn't get it and the issues involved as the very issues she stated are going to be worse under the regional plan.

Okay, the Board annoys me too, but this criticism is silly. The whole point of the consent agenda is that it's a list of things to "breeze through" without discussion. Have you never been to any kind of board meeting before?

Well you haven’t. The board of education always had two business meetings a month. That gave time to review consent items. Not it is just one business meeting a month with a massive list of spending items. No time to review, just rubber stamp the way Taylor loves it.

Apparently you’re racist if you don’t agree?

Maloo is admitting Blair is better than the NEC schools she otherwise would have gone to.

What in the regional program model makes her believe this disparity will be resolved? It just sounds like they’ll shuffle rich, white and Asian kids to lower income Black and Brown schools, and vice versa.

Grace is speaking. Just recycling all of the talking points we’ve heard from them before.

And then just restates all of the ways MCPS communicated about the Boundary Study as a defense that the process was rushed.

This ignores that the part people are calling rushed is the release of Option H.

This was completely expected and the strongest argument they have - which isn’t much.

She hasn’t said it yet, but her comments signal Grace is voting in favor of the superintendent’s recommendation.

Ok, now Grace said it plainly. She’s supporting the recommendation.

The magnets were overwhelmingly white and Asian. That’s true. But there is no indication the regional program model will increase Black and Brown enrollment in those programs.

Disagree. I didn't think I liked Montoya, but her remarks won me over.

Engagement isn’t just counting meetings—it’s whether people had a real opportunity to understand, analyze, and impact the outcome.

This is what the state BOE and a court will consider.

Grace is putting forth an amendment….

She’s requiring quarterly and regular status updates to the board on secondary programs.
