It's finally happening... now with an unexpected addition of virtual learning plan controversy to boot. Get out the popcorn...
|
| This has to be the most-watched board meeting in recent MCPS history. |
| I predict Julie Yang will vote against Option H to stand in solidarity with the Asian community at Wootton. If she doesn’t, I don’t see how she shows her face there ever again. An enraged Asian community would either vote against her or stay home in her upcoming County Council race, which she can’t afford. |
She hasn't shown any signs of it so far... |
| Strong testimony from Rebecca Kuschmider on the regional program model. I wish someone cared... |
| Give us the updates, I assume its a done deal so no point in watching. |
| Wootton Community out in full force. Making good points, but is it enough? Probably not |
| Let’s see how the board responds to the public comments. |
| Wow. They chickened out. No comments from the board after public comments. And they’re breezing through all of the consent items too. |
Too late... She did so many concrete study that's 100X better than what CO staff did. She has all my respect! |
No comment. They chicken out. |
| The juicy part is beginning. |
| Interesting there is no thank you or acknowledgment of the testimony. Dear, BOE, we will remember this during election time. |
|
Laura Stewart is fist with comments. Now she’s reciting her rehearsed speech.
She says she ran to make hard decisions. Acknowledges MCPS didn’t take care of its buildings or offer meaningful literacy instruction. And now she’s defending the board’s process and decisions. Claims she always leans into more engagement, not less. It is her job as a populate the buildings that meet health standards. In my heart, I know that Wootton will be rebuilt in the future after Damascus and Woodward. |
| Laura Stewart apologized to Dan Silva from Magruder and offered to have a long meeting with him. |
