OPM tomorrow

Anonymous
My site sent out an email at 8 AM that it was closing at 12:30 and telework employees could take unscheduled leave or TW for the entire day. Except I was already here. Sigh.

That’s your agency’s general telework rule or just for today? Wow my agency was specific about that kind of arrangement being unacceptable - changing your daily schedule with telework.

You take leave and cancel the meetings if you can’t telework. That is what DOGE set up. Zero obligation to sacrifice your family needs to attend some meeting that could have easily been done on zoom.

Vought will step in and declare the weather is God's punishment for lazy federal workers who should swim home for their penance.

I thought OPM gave everyone the option to telework.

Mandatory WFH in a storm is a lawsuit waiting to happen. My stupid company in Hurricanne Sandy closed our office building with full electric back up and I ended up being home and all three cars distroyed and 15 feet of water in my house, another guy got hurt severly in Far Rockaway.

It runs out our DR/BCP plan did not consider home location in his plan. So many people lived in more dangerous locations than work his decision to close office put a lot of us directly in harms way. One guy sued us.

My current home surrounded by trees. My office in a blacktop parking lot. I am safer at work today.

Are you prepared to sleep at the office? I did that when I worked at the hospital on several occasions, but would never for a routine office job.

OPM announced it. Tekeworkers must complete the day at home. The rest get leave.

This is a general rule everyday but can not be a regular pattern. Some managers are more flexible than others.

This seems like a weird choice. Current radar looks like it's worse now than it will be in normal afternoon commuting hours.

That’s a really specific situation. The concern today is commuting home in the afternoon when the storms may be the strongest. Many people have kids that they need to get home to, so wouldn’t want to stay at their office.

The original forecast said it would be the worst from 3-6pm.

We had about 10 minutes of rain...heavy rain but it ended very fast.
