OPM tomorrow

Anonymous
Do we think OPM will allow telework or early dismissal tomorrow given the possibility of storms rolling in and everyone having to leave at the same time to get kids from school? I have a lot of leave, so I’m trying to figure out if I should go in early and plan to leave early, take leave, or run to my office to grab my computer to telework.

I don't see snow. I doubt if it is just rain.

This has nothing to do with snow or rain – but with tornadoes and downed trees.

Go early and leave early. If you have leave, use it.

School systems are already tracking it, potential early closures.

Is snow the only reason for telework/early dismissal? Does OPM consider tornadoes and derechos “just rain?”

I’m planing to go in early and leave after lunch. Will take leave if needed. I’m not driving home in that storm.

I just told my husband I’m flexing early tomorrow - I’ll get in by 6 and leave at lunch. If we get 2 hours, great. If not, it will be two hours of well used leave.

My office is outside the Beltway and tends to close less than OPM, so this is my plan as well.

We are allowed to telework after spending more than half the day in the office. I will telework and finish the day at home if it seems prudent tomorrow (commute time does not count of course)

Even a 2 or 3 hour early release would put people starting a commute right when things are supposed to kick off at 2/3/4pm, probably not the best idea. Option to telework seems to most prudent, especially given some strong storms are expected earlier in the morning as well.

Dear OPM,
People desperately want and need telework! Please allow us to go back to the level of telework pre-pandemic. At my agency, it was 2 to 3 days per week. Thank you!

Telework or early release?

Well you know how these people are, so probably open as usual.

If it were me making the call, I'd let everyone leave by noon and give option to telework.

They were actually pretty reasonable with the recent snow storms so maybe that will continue
