Man stabbed by group of 7 teens in Wheaton Mall restroom; $10K reward offered

These kids are not "emotionally disturbed".

They were clearly having fun as a group of idiot kids. Capacity for violence is normal juvenile male behavior.

They need supervision and discipline, not therapy.

It seems like the school-based CEOs could probably identify these kids quickly.

They would need to step out of their cruiser and actually enter a school for that to happen.

There is zero engagement.

I would bet $50k that they are not Avalon students. Other crimes I wouldn’t feel so confident about.

Their actions are not normal juvenile male behavior. You probably think it's normal for juvenile males to set ducks on fire, skin cats alive, tape dogs' mouths shut, etc. Yes, they need structure, supervision, and discilpline. They also need therapy and an eval for special education services.

If they truly did carry out this crime and were happy afterwards, they need evaluations for Special Education for emotionally disturbed students.

No, they do not. I guarantee every single one of these teens is already receiving a plethora of school-based interventions to little avail because their parents are not pulling any weight at home. Don't throw good money after bad.

Just stop. You truly have no idea. Oftentimes the kids are acting out trauma that far exceeds “permissive parenting”. I wish that people like you had even a single clue. Until then maybe just keep your opinion to yourself.

Do you make excuses for all criminal behavior? Almost all prisoners have experienced trauma and abuse in theIr lives. Doesn't mean they should be free to harm others.

There are 7 boys here. There’s probably at least one or two really sociopathic in the group and then 1-6 that fall somewhere on the range of stupid follower to needs better direction in life to selfish jerk.
Even in the case where there was a guy shot in the TJ stairwell a few years ago, one of the 3 boys involved pretty much immediately went to the cops because he had been unaware that one of the others intended to shoot the guy. It’s a huge problem with boys — they don’t filter their friends well and then a kid with just garden variety bad judgment can then end up in a really bad situation when it turns out someone in the group is a really really bad guy.

50k is wildly inappropriate for a cut to the arm. Focus on real crime.

There were 7 juvenile delinquents with seven knives and that would be 7 cuts at $10,000 for each cut and the reward should be $70,000.

To be as cavalier as you are then one of these hooligans must belong to you

Wait—they each had a knife?

Oh really? Please enlighten us. Trauma, which we don't even know is a factor here, is not a valid excuse for violence. These teens cornered and stabbed a man. It could've ended horribly for them. Schools do what they can but these issues are not on the school system to fix.

NP. +1
I don't understand how this isn't the prevailing view.

The teens were not in any danger. It would be illegal to be armed in the mall. Thankfully, we are keeping the most vulnerable members of society safe.

Very identifiable. Teachers??
Then again they’re probably never in school.

10k seems like not much money? Maybe the reward could be like 100k?

Did they catch them?
