I was one of the commenters above who was enjoying the show, but it kind of fizzled out at the end.
I agree that the sex stuff was off-putting. I think the point of it was to be off-putting. For "art." But, at the end, there just wasn't much payoff for enduring that discomfort. |
| I’m enjoying the show but why is there so much product placement? It’s really distracting to me. |
It’s not the destination, it’s the journey. At some point, you care so much about the characters and how they developed their story, that the ending is less important. I enjoyed the show, you have to watch most episodes twice to catch all the nuances. Also, the sex is mostly innuendo, I remember very little actual sex scenes. |
Mileage varies. I'm happy to enjoy the journey. But, for me, for the journey to seem meaningful, there also has to be some meaning to the destination. I like basically everything about my backyard, but I'm not going to just walk around it in circles, no matter how pleasant that journey may be. |
Yeah like fine wine! Total DILF. |
| I've never found Jason Bateman attractive. Perfectly nice looking, and still is, but nothing to write home about. Linda Cardellini is looking excellent, though! Hate her hairstyle but I think that's a wig. |
I also agree that the weird sex stuff was painful. It was all cringy awkwardness that took attention away from the fact that Floyd was a very confused angel sent from heaven. It was interesting in that what was destroying Floyd was the same thing that women experience as they hit middle age. We become the crone - unattractive and not wanted - not interesting to anyone. This show hit me in the feelings hard several times. Watching a mom deal with a child for whom there is little help. Knowing she doesn't have the funds to support his needs, knowing she loves someone who helps them and hurts them. She was so stuck and trapped. I feel so sorry for the son. He never knew how much Floyd loved him. Floyd sincerely loved people. Very few people can maintain that level of care for others given what life throws at all of us. |
Yeah, loved Linda. For those complaining about the sex in the show, I would’ve liked to have seen a lot more of her. Back in the day, Playboy would be calling about now, and we would have gotten a tastefully done “treat”, if she was so inclined. |
The guys call me the “Bang Master” - Classic. |
I get that the show isn't for everyone, but in the finale, everything really came together. It was heartbreaking, and the themes about people and their struggles felt very real, despite some of the earlier episodes that just seemed far-fetched and maybe even weird. I wasn't sure what I would think of the show but I stuck with it, and the finale was worth it. |
