How TF did Panera cost me nearly $20

This does seem to be particularly bad at Panera for some reason.

Interesting. The Panera opened near me about 25 years ago. The pastries were so disappointing and I was confused because they called it a bakery. I talked to one of the employees and they told me everything was shipped in, nothing baked on premises. That was way back then.

Well don’t double then! Chipotle is still tasty. Prices went up but at least it’s still good.

I think it is the bottomless drinks membership and it is also much bigger than a Starbucks while still having the coffeehouse vibe.

Panera has really gone downhill. Ate there weekly 15 years ago but never go now.

Me too! My son and I went the other day. We each got a burger, fries, and a shake. $50!

You’re creeped out by people who work at a place known to not aak people to leave drinking a drink they pay for under a heavily advertised pricing model?

Yes, I’m very creeped out by shameless adults who think guzzling an essentially free subscription drink gives them carte blanche to sit on their ass in restaurant for hours on end every day.

The subscription people also bring in their own cups and will fill up Big Gulp sized cups of coffee, iced coffee, and other drinks. They’re repulsive.

Paneras always had creeps sitting in there all day long before the relatively recent subscription drink thing. But the subscription has probably made it worse. I can’t imagine how unwell you’d have to be to have that routine every day.

A double shake shack burger without cheese is about $10. More than fair. It’s actually fresh and delicious. While literally nothing at Panera is fresh or delicious.

+1 Those remote workers are repulsive. Can’t understand why companies have permitted so many employees not come into the office.

I would never ever pay more than $5 for a burger. To me $10 for food costing them $2 or less is a total ripoff.

I mean, that’s whom they are targeting. Who else would want a bottomless drink subscription from Panera or
Starbucks? Don’t act surprised

The main draw for me was always the bread and other baked goods. Now that the bread comes in frozen and has declined in quality there is no reason for me to go in there.

My son used to love their cheese danish. Lots of early morning weekend memories from there; of course, the location that was near us has since closed.

No that's not who they're targeting. Those are low-trust leeches exploiting a program. Panera is hoping that low cost drink subscription nudges patrons to come in or use the drive-thru more frequently to buy food to compliment the drink and/or rarely use the drink subscription and forget about the small fee while it charges them for months on end (like a gym membership). Panera is 100% losing money on those creepy leeches drinking Big Gulp-sized cups of their drinks and not ordering anything else -- even worse if they also steal a table for hours on end while they "work" on a laptop.

I have never been in a Panera where there was no where for me to sit if I wanted to.

You have a very low tolerance. This is nothing to be upset over. No one is going every 2 hours for a drink, so if someone gets 8 drinks worth in 1.5 hours, it’s still less than they are entitled to.

I’ve never had this subscription model but who cares this much about people who do?!
