I don't have any sympathy for non-diplomatic families, non-relatives, who go to Dubai or anywhere else in that region. These are autocratic countries, built on current, not former, slave immigrant labor, with a piss-poor record for treating women of their own nations like secondary citizens.

Slave immigrant labor? Who do you think washes your dishes, slaughters the chickens you eat, picks your avocados, and rakes your leaves? Get a grip lady. What a hypocrite!

The imported working class in Dubai is nothing like the immigrants in the US. The suffering by workers in Dubai is horrific. And your tourism supports that.

I’m always baffled by the Dcumlandia Faux-activists who pontificate about DEI and equality in the USA but brag about their vacations to places like Dubai where human rights simply aren’t “a thing.”

Cite your sources for both of these claims.

And I bet you're also someone who usually frowns on extremism, dictatorships, and would never vote for Trump. You pay lip service to civil rights and women's rights, but all that goes out of the window for the - checks notes - theme parks, resorts, beaches, safari, indoor skiiing, food and nightlife.

DP. Please post your grievances with Dubai. Be specific. Then we can compare and contrast with all of the other choices you make in your life, as well as - checks notes- your own country.

Sorry Whataboutism isn’t going to save your doomed vacation

In other words, you have no clue, and you’re outraged because someone of Facebook or YouTube or TikTok told you to be. Got it.

I pay immigrants. I don't confiscate their passports.

People like you disgust me, OP.

Ha ha!

When your first thought is that and not global safety and security, and how our armed forces will now die by the thousands for this folly, and how vulnerable people all over the world are even more vulnerable, that’s what I say to you: Ha ha!

How idiotic not to get travel insurance. You’re a selfish idiot and you deserve this disappointment.

+1

And hopefully we don’t feel the impact of their retaliation in our own cities.

Fun fact: tons of young Iranian men were able to cross into the US undetected through our southern border during the prior administration. Hopefully they were just fleeing Iran for a better life here, but who knows?

Google Dubai slavery and then google Dubai human trafficking.

It’s a known playground for human trafficking. Plus, ICYMI, women are treated badly in general…even the affluent ones who are married…because, ya know, religion.

I lived in Dubai for 10 years. Had a great time. Frankly, loved it. And I wasn't a mall person. Anyway, Dubai always brings out the hypocritical haters who reek of ignorant judgmentalism. But yeah, this Iranian situation (long overdue FYI) does mean I'd wait another year. UAE is incredibly safe, far safer than the US, but missiles they cannot control. The Iranian regime is collapsing and will be lashing out like a wounded beast for a while.

Got to say if I still lived in my high rise apartment in Dubai and watching those missiles flying, it'd be a scary experience.

Agreed. But the whole ME is a massive human rights crisis. Israel, Saudi, UAE...

Have you been paying attention to the news? Airspace in the Middle East is largely closed. I believe someone was killed at the Dubai airport.
