What programs are Wake even good at?

Wake is, not "are," good at lots of programs. You, however, are not good at English. Obviously you didn't get into any of the schools under discussion. Probably didn't even go to college.

DP but wake is just a 4th or 5th tier college that somehow was mysteriously portraited as elite on this board. So it’s just for wannabes.

Can anyone comment on Wake v Davidson?

Wake, Tulane, and Miami are peer schools. All good institutions that deliver a high quality education, great networking, and an amazing college experience. But let's not kid ourselves, they are not elite academic institutions. Not saying they're bad, just that they're not elite academically. But it's mistake to fixate on that, as their graduates probably do better in life than the dorks from Rice, Emory or WUSTL.

Davidson is a smaller school, nerdier, more academic, less social.

Wake is more work hard, then rage. I wouldn't say Wake Forest is as intellectual an environment. The kids are just as smart (my take) but they aren't debating the finer points of Kantian deontology on the quad. They are doing their work then hitting the golf course or dartying.

Expect SMU to be added to list now that the Mustangs are in the ACC. Smart move by SMU. Full pay family but hard to justify $95k for those schools with not much prestige.

Half the kids currently at Wake were admitted when it was ranked in the T30, before USNews decided to weight dei factors highly.

This isn’t even an accurate US News ranking as W and L and Davidson are not ranked as National universities.

^Exactly not accurate 2026 US News rankings. Good news for Duke, there is no competition in the Southeast-no other school is remotely close. Davidson is ranked higher than W&L. With Rice being second to Duke.

From a prestige perspective it’s definitely above Lehigh. At least in our circle.

Wake is much harder to get into, ED vs ED and RD v RD, than Lehigh. Lehigh kids are ones that are borderline for JMU and do jot get into VT or WM or UVA. Wake kids in RD almost all get into UVA in state, wake ED is a little easier than UVa ED, but on par w WM and VT when VT used to have ED. Wake is a T30 based on student talent, similar to WM. Lehigh is T60-70.

I don't think Ivy kids are debating the finer points of Kantian deontology on the quad. At least the vast majority of them aren't. Too busy debating McKinsey vs. Bain vs. BCG.

Ironically, I have an acquaintance who went to Wake and majored in Philosophy, got a PhD in the subject from an elite school and now teaches it. But that is admittedly the exception to the rule...

DS visited Duke, Davidson, and Wake. Though they’re different, he said could see himself being very happy at any of the three if given the chance. Will see how things shake out next month in RD.
