Emory cheerleader: “We’re better off than Auburn!” |
| WashU is the better school but not by a lot. Based on naviance it is harder to get in ED washU than it is ED emory, same for RD comparison, but they have overlap. Both are excellent for premed, in the next-tier schools to ivy-T10, with a med school on campus. Vanderbilt is in the same category as these two. WashU and Vandy are closer to each other than Emory but Emory is not a significant step down unless one means the alternative oxford campus which is used as a sort of back door ED from our school for those who are borderline for UVA in state. |
| Emory’s Oxford College is still a tough admit, especially in the RD round. |

Blefescu vs. Lilliput.
So silly. |
| Why is there such hatred for Emory? My guess is pure and unadulterated jealousy: lots here have had kids rejected and also would have difficulty affording it. |
Thats not what my naviance says. Naviance is a per schools basis. |
I have no ties and think it’s a great school. As someone outside dcum I always perceived it as the UVA folks needing to pick on someone because the Ivy+ crowd does it to them. I don’t know, it’s silly, all wonderful schools. Any kid would fortunate to attend any one of them. |
I don't hate Emory. It's just that posters who like Emory appears to have an uncontrolled urge to prop it up by putting down other schools. I love both WashU's and Emory's pre-med and would love to have my kid attend either if she's fortunate enough to be accepted. I understand both are not top-top-tier and I can live with such categorization. |
| This thread originally started with OP wondering why there seem to be more Wash U commits than Emory commits so far…it doesn’t sound like an invitation to say why one is better than the other. They’re essentially twins in most respects. |
The OP is replying to themselves in this thread. It was made to troll Emory, until actual facts were laid out that Emory has more applicants, a higher retention rate, and more students submitting test scores. Now suddenly both schools are equal and they dont know why posters are getting defensive because they were "just asking a question". No one in here is stupid except the ones or two WashU boosters that think we cant see through them. |
Exactly! It was a whynis Emory seeming less desirable, without bothering to look at the number of applicants from both schools. Amateur trolling from Op. |

Comments like this from Emory parents is why people dislike the school. The lack of self awareness is stark. |
You are right. Emory, like any university, has both weaknesses and strengths. Be lucky that the worst problem you have is your kid either got in or got rejected from Emory. It is not about you, dear parent, at all. Your kid goes to Emory, not you. Loser. |
Omg, this debate is insane. Most people who have no affiliation with either school would consider both about the same tier. |
