9 years is a lot.

My DH is 6 years older, and we're in our 50s/60s. Issues around retirement are surfacing.

The difference between 39 and 48 doesn't seem bad, but 60 and 69, 70 and 79, 80 and 89, the gap becomes a bigger issue.

I agree. I am 47 and my husband is 53 and honestly it's starting to get annoying, the age gap. It was NOT annoying when he was 48. But now he is losing his hearing, is more tired, just likes to lie around. So 48 probably feels fine but as he gets older it's annoying.

And 39 is still young enough that OP could date in the 36-43 range.

When does young end guys?

27 years old. After that, you are expected to act like an adult.

Nah more like when you hit 30. 29 is still young, you just have to be responsible. You should really be responsible a year or so after college though, so like 25.

A lot of Marines have “old fashioned” views on gender roles.

That doesn’t strike me as “hot.”

And a lot don't.

I think that's just your DH. I'm 59 and can hear a pin drop two houses over. Definitely not tired. Some people can't hear well at 26.

Six year age gap is laughable.

No it’s the opposite. At 60/69, 70/79, and 80/89 you all have the same issues. You all need someone to change your diapers. Life is almost over for both of you.
