Wed no school or 2hr delay?

How many people here are registered as substitute teachers with the county? Because if we open up later this week we are going to need a TON of subs as the large portion of our out of county resident teachers will be calling out.

Come on people. Do your part.

The snow, sleet and ice are like concrete in these freezing temperatures. You need a tool to break up the ice, maybe a hoe or metal shovel. It is back breaking work. No way we open on Wednesday and likely not at all this week.

If you cleaned yesterday it's fine. Today is a good day too as the temps are high enough for salt to work. But if MCPS is waiting until all roads are clear to start clearing their lots then it is going to be tough.

Be that as it may, that’s the track we’re on if my neighborhood is any indication.

Mine too but I am down county. I always remind myself that it needs to be clear 45 mins away in Poolesville. And I have been to Calleva Farm enough times to know what some of those roads are like.

This applies to schools since the decision has to apply county-wide, but child care should be able to make decisions based on local conditions.

And

There's another storm chance this Sunday. Start a new thread!

Based on the forecast for Monday, February 2, 2026, there is a low, minor chance of snow in Montgomery county. Daytime (Feb 2, 2026): partly sunny with a 5% chance of snow and a high near 30°F. Nighttime (Feb 2, 2026): partly cloudy with a 10% chance of snow and a low around 13°F. cold, scattered flurries.

But the % could change

I swear some of you want bad sht to happen

It's DCUM. This place THRIVES on bad news. It's the lifeblood that keeps everyone here going.

One would hope. It’s not snowing at all today. Our streets are plowed (cue someone yelling about how they’re lacking electricity in Damascus)

It's not going to melt at all. It won't have to refreeze.

I'm going to guess no school until Friday and there will a two hour delay then.

Well the county is down at least one plow after a dump truck with a plow attachment burst into flames in Clarksburg last night

PP you replied to and I completely agree.

I'm not sure how we get our cars shoveled out at this point. The "snow" is rock hard.

All this talk of school closures is making quite a few people here "rock hard" as well
