Wow, what an ignorant statement. Yes, the Potomac was already polluted. But it’s far from dead. It’s home to countless fish and waterfowl, for example. Anyone hiking among the Potomac can see these critters. |
DC is a rower too but after such ecological damage, the last thing I was worried about was crew season. |
Well, as you pointed out, that might somebody’s only chance for college or a scholarship and it could be life altering. So it is a reason for concern for some people. |
The Potomac is owned by Maryland. They often like to remind us of that when they block any and all efforts to build a bridge or widen the 495 bridge. |
I am not sure what Maryland's plan to fix the issue would be. Build a dam? Order people to stop looking at it? |
Maybe the e coli will kill the brainworm. Might be therapeutic. |
| Ick is that orange's 'Depends' floating out there? |
Fine. DC is now in a state of emergency. Now DC can apply for FEMA funding. However, DC doesn't own the waters of the Potomac or the pipe. Is DC applying for funding on behalf of DC Water? |
Is it really up to an est. billion gallons now? I thought it was one-quarter than; 250M? |
Pollution and run-off from the Trump National Golf Course in Loudoun County killed all the fish and animals in the river in 2017. It’s been a dead river ever since. No fish, no life of any kind. Why are you defending Trump? |
+1. Finally, some science based facts on this thread. |
This is absolutely untrue. I hate Trump and all things MAGA but I walk along the Potomac 3-4x a week on Windy Run in Arlington and see fish, birds and other wildlife every single time. I’ve been doing this for 15 years. |
Those are DARPA robots. |
