What an utterly ridiculous song. Billionaire Bruce, always cosplaying the Common Man.

All Americans, regardless of level of wealth, should be appalled at what has become of our government and the murders it has committed.

+1 at least there is a billionaire on the side of the people

Oxymoron in action.

Billionaire “on the side of the people” doesn’t make any sense at all.

OP here, not really looking to derail this thread with posts that belong in politics. Appreciate the specific songs people have suggested..I hadn't even seen the one a few PPs mentioned was featured in social media.

There are so many great ones from 60s/70s so I have been wondering what this point in time will inspire. Maybe too soon for some of the megastars but cool to be introduced to new names.

Of course, but right now all we have is an oxymoron on our side. I am not looking to kick down people who are attempting to help in their own way. If your want to be picky about who helps you when you need help, you may miss out on the helpers.

"The song's lyrics explore Pink's belief that the United States' government had failed its people and sent a message about those who feel unheard or forgotten."

Yes she’s so forgotten.
She has millions and is absolutely free to give away as much of her own money as she would like, even to the point that her standard of living is equitable to the middle class if she so chooses. She could fly in coach or just rent a small flat (because she wouldn’t want to be one of those elitist white supremacist home owners) and then give away the rest to families who need it more. And that would be noble. A demonstration of putting her words into action. And yet somehow I don’t think she would be thrilled if the government compelled her to share what she earned in this way.

Becasue that’s probably not what she had in mind right? She wants “the government” to provide the solutions. She just doesn’t recognize that “the government” is just we the people and money earned that is taxed.

The problem with relying on this form of socialism to fix every issue is you eventually run out of other people’s money.

You're thinking too deep.

The song isn't about socialism.

There are no recommended remedies in the song that involve socialism.

The government is definitely a thing apart from the governed.

That is why us rule-followers are gritting our teeth until the next legal opportunity to change it.

Bruce Springsteen and Billy Bragg both dropped Minnesota protest songs this week.

Just because you haven’t heard of Mon Rovia or Jesse Welles doesn’t mean they’re not out there putting out music, videos and concerts with songs like “Love Me Now” and “Join ICE.”

gu

+1 Jesse Welles is writing music about what is happening the the world today

He's doing two concerts in DC in March. We have tickets.

Green Day and Cake in concert were also very anti-Trump.

Weren't they on hiatus? good to come back

Green Day is opening the Super Bowl
