Curious what artists, mainstream or indie, are putting out songs about this current moment. Thinking of either blunt in your face like LLM's "Immigrants, we get the job done" or even Taylor's cheeky You Need to Calm Down that was pro LGBT and anti Internet bullying.
I'm certainly not in the zeitgeist but what am I missing today? |
| Jesse Welles is pretty on point. |

Pink - "What About Us"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_About_Us_(Pink_song) "The song's lyrics explore Pink's belief that the United States' government had failed its people and sent a message about those who feel unheard or forgotten." |
Pink is an amazing talent and is maintaining a long career in a difficult industry and tries to use her high profile for good. |

American idiot especially with the lyric change
Or when Green Day did Bang Bang and chanted midway: No Trump! No KKK! No fascist USA! |
gu +1 Jesse Welles is writing music about what is happening the the world today |
He's doing two concerts in DC in March. We have tickets. Green Day and Cake in concert were also very anti-Trump. |

Am I the only one whose social media feed is filled with multiple new posts and different videos of the young folk singer Mon Rovia’s protest song that sounds like a sweet love song but is a depressing protest anthem?
He’s been all over MSM as well, and he performed at a recent ACLU event. But he needs more songs. It’s just the one that he keeps pushing. |
I have this algo also. I wish Pink would release a new version of Dear Mr. President which was about GWB. |
| On The Day It Finally Happens |
Weren't they on hiatus? good to come back |
| Stevie Nick's anthem for womens rights: Lighthouse |
| Rage Against the Maxhine - Killing in the Name Of. |
| I’ve been seeing on my SM feed a lot of Paris Paloma’s Labour. That one is more specific to women being oppressed but it still resonates. |
