+1 Jesse Welles is writing music about what is happening the the world today

He's doing two concerts in DC in March. We have tickets.

Green Day and Cake in concert were also very anti-Trump.

Weren't they on hiatus? good to come back

Green Day is opening the Super Bowl

I doubt most DCUMers realize this, but BTS has a few targeting the disillusioned youth experience. Most are a decade old now but still popular (in the Kpop world).

N.O., Not Today, Fire, Go Go, Silver Spoon, Ddaeng. Also some of the solo songs like Suga's Daechwita and JHope's Equal Sign (less a protest, more commentary).

We'll see what their new album includes in March after being in the military for 2 years.

What an utterly ridiculous song. Billionaire Bruce, always cosplaying the Common Man.

Beyonce's Formation, particularly the video, includes protest elements.

Childish Gambino definitely captures a lot of it in "This is America", particularly the social media distraction element.

All Americans, regardless of level of wealth, should be appalled at what has become of our government and the murders it has committed.

With respect to you and RATM, I think OP is asking why they and so few others don’t have something new responding to the last year, or the last decade. Spike Lee asked Public Enemy to write an anthem to use in Do the Right Thing and they came up with Fight the Power within days. Where is everyone?
Another poster mentioned Labour on the previous page. That’s the answer. It’s been all over social media for the last year+.

Labour is a feminist anthem, not a protest song about our government.

I do like that What's Up is making a resurgence though.
Do you…not see the connection?

+1 thanks to this PP and one on the prior page who shared this song. It's blunt and really hits the moment for me.

"The song's lyrics explore Pink's belief that the United States' government had failed its people and sent a message about those who feel unheard or forgotten."

Yes she’s so forgotten.
She has millions and is absolutely free to give away as much of her own money as she would like, even to the point that her standard of living is equitable to the middle class if she so chooses. She could fly in coach or just rent a small flat (because she wouldn’t want to be one of those elitist white supremacist home owners) and then give away the rest to families who need it more. And that would be noble. A demonstration of putting her words into action. And yet somehow I don’t think she would be thrilled if the government compelled her to share what she earned in this way.

Becasue that’s probably not what she had in mind right? She wants “the government” to provide the solutions. She just doesn’t recognize that “the government” is just we the people and money earned that is taxed.

The problem with relying on this form of socialism to fix every issue is you eventually run out of other people’s money.
