Immigrants are detained appearing in court for routine immigration hearings. What else are they supposed to do? They’re appearing regularly as asked.
You didn’t answer the question, if they’re here illegally should they be deported ? It’s not a trick question.

I did above. Once again, "sure."

Now your turn. Can we agree that ICE going to courthouses where legal immigrants are going through the normal process and yet still being abducted by ICE is proof that they are not only going after illegal immigrants, and that this is bad?

They are not legal immigrants. There is no specific definition of 'illegal immigrant' but they are included in nearly every count.
When they entered the country, they did not have a visa, but the government let them in anyway. This did not give them legal status, and they were always in limbo subject to government withdrawing its protection.

Okay, so the government let them in. So their entry was permitted by the government.

You're almost there. Keep trying.

I do think they are semi-correct on immigration. The majority of immigrants are here illegally and need to be deported. I would be in favor of pausing immigration and ending birthright citizenship.

I do not support backtracking and denaturalizing citizens who went through the process correctly. ICE is also way too violent. There was no need for them to drive that Hmong man around Minneapolis while he was shirtless in the cold, only to find out that he was a legal citizen.

You are a fool if you voted for Biden & Harris. Neither has ever accomplished anything. They think merely occupying an office is the accomplishment. So they got elected & then did NOTHING.

Notice how Trump gets elected & then tries to actually fix things: the border, the military, Iran, Gaza, Venezuela, homelessness, energy.

You may disagree with his goals or methods, but at least he takes action. Joe sat on the beach. Kamala visited ice cream shops. Trump bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities. See the difference?

Completely! That is exactly why his approval ratings are tanking, everything is more expensive, and our allies are boycotting our products. If the president doesn't demolish the country himself, what's the point?

Success can only be managed by the number of your failures. Nothing else counts. We have always been at war with Eastasia.

Only if the same criteria is applied to everyone and if the examples being set start at the top - eg, Melania and Elon.
Once they get deported we can address your question with seriousness.

Melania and Elon don't have the right skin color to warrant enforcement, PP. /s

Before that, it was even easier. I don’t think it’s been possible to attain legal status that way for 20 years at least. But she was a “legal” immigrant. Now desperate people (whose countries are in terrible situations because of American interference) are coming in whatever way they can. We need to recognize that “legal” has meant different things every decade.

Regan gave amnesty to illegal immigrants that is why your mom got legal status.

I don’t believe so. Amnesty was a one-time event and the years do not line up.

This five-year-old and his dad are legal. They have an active asylum case.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/21/ice-arrests-five-year-old-boy-minnesota

They WILL be released, you know, because they are legal. In the meantime, Kristi Noem endangered a child who came home to an empty house, endangered a family and neighborhood by leaving a car running, traumatized a five-year-old, and is terrorizing a family who is here legally. Our grandchildren will be paying the legal fees and therapy bills through their taxes.

How is it that there can be a 4 page thread on immigration and no one mentions temporary protective status (TPS)? It’s not an intelligent discussion on the problems of immigration without that.

TPS was started by Bush and expanded by every President since as a way of avoiding reform. It allows people from certain countries undergoing hardship (wars, famines, natural disasters and I think they also added economic disasters recently) LEGAL entry to the US without an assured pathway to citizenship. That legal entry has an expiry date where their continued presence becomes illegal. But there was no tracking or enforcement so people commonly overstayed. There 1.3million here that currently hold TPS and I’m not sure of the numbers of those who overstayed.

To me this problem has many obvious built in problems and should be absolished immediately. We should determine how many legal immigrants we need (and yes, we do need them, they are younger and pay into social security and Medicare) and be country agnostic, first come first serve until that annual quota is reached.

Asylum is a scam unless it's from a communist or oppressive govt like Iran

It is sad, but no, we can not import every woman who is abused into our country.

We could be humane about it, though. If we set up a legal process for them to move through, in an attempt to gain some sort of authorized status, we shouldn't be pulling it out from under their feet.

Immigration enforcement is necessary. How we do it reflects on our morals and character, not theirs.

What does it reveal about their character that they made a deliberate choice to break immigration laws?

Straw man argument.

You said: "Asylum is a scam unless it's from a communist or oppressive govt like Iran." I responded a situation that is universally considered not to be a scam. You misrepresented my position tomake it sound unreasonable and impossible. I never said that we should "import every woman who is abused into our country." Are you saying that we should import every citizen of Iran into our country?
