“I’m not against immigrants. I just want them to come here legally.”

This is the best explanation I’ve seen yet of why the Trump administration is against immigration in general, not just against illegal immigration. Receipts included.

I voted for Clinton, Biden, and Harris. I have not and would never vote for the modern Republican party.

I do think they are semi-correct on immigration. The majority of immigrants are here illegally and need to be deported. I would be in favor of pausing immigration and ending birthright citizenship.

I do not support backtracking and denaturalizing citizens who went through the process correctly. ICE is also way too violent. There was no need for them to drive that Hmong man around Minneapolis while he was shirtless in the cold, only to find out that he was a legal citizen.

What do you mean “the majority of immigrants are here illegally”? Where do you get that statistic? There are a number of different statuses that migrants can have and most are not illegal.

Not PP, but it's probably safe to say the majority of immigrants over the last several years are here illegally. For instance, 10 million+ crossed the border under Biden. Not sure how many legal immigrants entered, but i'm guessing the illegal ones vastly outnumbered legal by like 100:1.

A lot of them come here to claim "asylum" falsely. If you're lying about why you need to be here, that's not valid.

On what your you basing your claim that the asylum claims are false?

Because it is. You think every person who comes here from South or Central America is in imminent danger of being killed by gangs? They all claim that. And then they freak out at the idea of MPP. Idk about you but if I truly thought I was about to be murdered, I'd be fine staying in Mexico instead of b itching about how I need to come to the US.

People don’t realize that the “legal” immigration system used to be extremely loosey-goosey. My mother came during the Reagan administration, overstayed her visa, got a lawyer for her hearing, and was a legal immigrant after that.

Before that, it was even easier. I don’t think it’s been possible to attain legal status that way for 20 years at least. But she was a “legal” immigrant. Now desperate people (whose countries are in terrible situations because of American interference) are coming in whatever way they can. We need to recognize that “legal” has meant different things every decade.

I'm a well-off immigrant from Europe with multiple degrees. I've spent two decades on work visas and now I'm waiting for a green card.

The majority of foreigners in the US are here legally, yet they're being harassed, detained and deported.

We will look back on this time with horror at the rampant xenophobia that was unleashed in 2025-2028.

The detention camps house foreigners (and US citizens) in inhumane conditions. Some of them sleep on the floor, exposed to unpleasant climate conditions. None of them receive adequate medical care. More people have died in ICE detention in 2025 than died under all 4 years of Biden's last term.

These are like the concentration camps of WWII, people. Many Americans may not see it that way right now, but once this President's term is over, and undercover journalists start going into these prisons, you will see how terrible they are.

The most powerful democracy in the world, the one who claims to defend freedom and the civil rights, is putting thousands of innocent people into concentration camps all over the country.

For shame.

It all sounded good until you blamed it on “American Interference”. These places have been basket cases forever, and America did not make them all that way. Might as well go back and blame the Spanish too.

Its obvious that 99%+ of all asylum claims are fake. None of these people are in imminent danger from their own government or are being persecuted for their faith. "There are gangs in my neighborhood" should never be considered a reason to flee your country.

The majority of immigrants are here legally and have a Green Card, or gained US citizenship. Most Americans wouldn’t even pass the US citizenship test

Gangs are a reason to flee the country if the gangs can track one down anywhere in the country.

El Salvador’s migration has decreased with lots of negative migration back to El Salvador occurring because their president Bukele is excellent at cracking down on gang warfare/Ms13.

Whoa whoa whoa, your numbers are way off. The "10 million" number is for encounters, but that does not mean entered. That can mean people turned back at the border. That can mean multiple encounters with the same guy. Plus, people come and go, and they didn't stop deportations and removals under Biden. But MAGA and anti-immigrant folks ignore all of that reality and come to the completely wrong conclusion that number of illegals in the country went +10 million under Biden, and that's wrong.

As for 100:1 illegal to legal is WAY out of whack with reality and I have absolutely no idea where you got that idea. If someone out there said it, they need to be shut down. Pew Research (the people from your own paper) say there are roughly 35-37 million LEGAL immigrants, to 10-11 million illegal. So not only is it not 100:1, illegal to legal it's 1:3 illegal to legal.

But that's where we are - in a place where anyone foreign born is (by some) automatically believed to be here illegally, "100:1" even though that's wrong, and for that matter we see it too with anyone US born who is a spanish speaker, or latino, or otherwise person of color.

It's pretty awful to hear that ICE even profiled off duty POLICE OFFICERS accusing them of being here illegally.
