Perhaps you are also not aware that a husband and wife living in Anchorage were convicted this summer on charges relating to domestic terrorism, that they were Islamic extremists, and that they were thought to have a list of 15 targets to hit? True, they were not targeting Alaskans, but it's not that big a leap if they are recruiting there.

And it's not clear, based on the affidavit, whether or not it was the idea of the feds who conducted the sting. According to the affidavit, the guy appeared ready to join the jihad abroad after he made his pilgrimage to Mecca. Sounds like it might have been the Feds' ideas to have him take pictures of metro stops.

Not that it absolves him of anything -- but it's possible he was just another one of those inept losers who is so eager to please that he goes along with some concocted "plot" that's actually a sting. We've seen it before - both among Muslims and among white Christian working class rural guys who thought they were joining a militia when it was just a Federal informant making suggestions about terrorist acts they could engage in.
