Responding only to JSteele's original post (as I do not have the patience to read through the many responses!) I would say that you make a wonderful argument for why I would NEVER pay for cable/satellite tv ... if such rubish must come into my home from either political party, at least I didn't PAY MONEY for it.

Thats why we should retreat from the wars and speed up the process of reducing urban voters...everybody wins.

The DC sniper attacked people in Nova and MOCO (I think there was only one shooting in DC and it was on the DC/MD border). All I can recall in DC is the shooting at the Holocaust Memorial and I recall there was a double homicide at the Capitol, but that was a schizophrenic.

I wouldn't bet on it. Terrorists seem to like destroying oil wells and pipelines. And Alaska is pretty much unguarded wilderness. And since the beneficiary of a drop in oil supply would be OPEC nations, you have to ask yourself why wouldn't they go after Alaska.
