When do interview requests get sent out for RD?

Anonymous
Curious if receiving an interview request has any real meaning? Can someone shed light on this?

Is it mandatory? Pros and cons?

By this time last year, my DC already had interview requests from Harvard, Yale, MIT and Princeton. MIT sends the requests out very quickly. Submitted app on the deadline or day before.

I think they are late this year. ^ Same with my 2024–Penn, Dartmouth, Princeton, Duke, Harvard.

I know Penn isn’t interviewing anymore. But my 2026- hasn’t heard from any yet. Submitted late Dec/Jan2.

Could it mean they are already in the no pile??

How does the WashU interview work? Thanks.

My kid never got any email asking him to schedule one.

3 of my kids applied to WashU RD. None interviewed. They all were accepted.

Would you mind sharing their stats? Thanks.
I heard WashU’s ED has relatively high admit rates, but their RD is very competitive?

Reddit also indicates the requests are out later this year.

DC1: 1570 SAT, well-known private, among the top of their class. Ended up at HYP, accepted at other ivies, T20,
DC2: Test scores below Avg (I think 32 ACT), top public, but had very strong hook (not recruited athlete, but other talent) and leadership. Surprised they got in.
DC3: 35 ACT/1580 SAT top public, among the top of their class, strongest academics of the sibs, ended up at HYP, did extremely well in RD (other ivies, stanford, mit etc) received full ride merit to a Top 20

I’ve interviewed for Yale in the past and just received an email saying that the portal for RD interviews opened up yesterday. They’re asking for us to update our availability / eligibility to interview this cycle.

FYI:

This is on Reddit, and many like it:

“Should I be not concerned, but on-edge, that I haven't recieved an interview for any ivy i've applied for so far? Whens the latest they usually invite appicants to interview?

Im in an area with many alumni.“

Pretty much everyone in same boat.

Any Yale interview requests yet in the DMV?

DC hasn’t received an email from the alum yet, but saw today that they were assigned an alumni interviewer in their Harvard application portal.
