And keep the routine simple. No toner, vit c, etc.

Vitamin C is a skincare essential. Any med student on their dermatology rotation will tell you as much. The trick is to finding a Vitamin C that works for sensitive skin, of which there are many.

Toner is not essential.

Meh - too irritating

As said above if you heal your skin, you can use vitamin vitamin C with no issue. Reactive skin is due to harsh products being used on it over time.

I don’t agree. I have healthy albeit sensitive skin. No skin barrier issues and I follow a simple routine with only gentle wash and lotion (both vanicream). Whenever I try to use a Vit C serum (every so often I retry, and I use ones considered gentle), my skin stings and burns like crazy.

New poster here. What about a daily moisturizer with SPF for sensitive skin?

I have very sensitive skin and most things give me both redness and peeling. What I have found to be a good combo is wash my face with dove sensitive skin soap bar (only once a day in shower) then use Clinique toner, then Clinique 100hr moisture surge gel. Sometimes
I do just cerave light moisturizing lotion for face after soap.

Even sunscreen breaks me out. I know most people flame Clinique but it works for me.

Mineral tends to be better for those with sensitive skin. Have you tried Elta MD?

You can disagree all you want but the fact of the matter is, it is essential to a solid skincare routine. Just because you're sensitive does not mean most dermatologists do not highly recommend it.

I disagreed with the statements in bold above, because I don’t use harsh products and I do have reactive skin, and I have no skin barrier issues and vit C immediately inflames it.

Many derms may recommend it, but mine says if something irritates your skin, don’t use it.

Timeless and Mad Hippie are not intended for sensitive skin. La Roche Posay has a form for sensitive skin, so make sure you were using the right one.

Vanicream is strange but it is more chemical-y than the others so you could've been allergic to something else in there.

Timeless is not for sensitive skin; I've used it and I don't have sensitive skin and that shit made me raw lol.

I started using the Olay Vitamin C Serum when the boutique line one I used to use kept being out of stock. It works well and is reasonably priced. No irritation issues for me. I have pretty sensitive skin, although the skin on my face has probably "toughened up" through decades of retinols. (I had acne as a teen so i started Retin-A at a young age.)

I have a love/hate relationship with sunscreen, but the only one I've found that is semi-ok are asian brands. I'm using biore UV aqua riche (spf50) as a moisturizer when I want sunscreen. It's light and doesnt pill under my makeup.

My skin sounds like yours. I recently switched from using Sisley for 20 years to Vanicream (yes you read that correctly) and I'm pleasantly surprised at how nice my skin looks - more even-toned, no flaking (I don't know why I put up with flaking for so long) and oil production is at bay. My skin is moisturized and just looks normal, and even. I'm a bit shocked. Also, my makeup (I still use Sisley for this) goes on more smoothly.

I use the Vanicream daily Facial Moisturizer - not the big tub.

I use Sisley l'integral anti-aging eye/lip cream and think it's good. I've also used the eye balm and the contour mask and they are all great - though tragically expensive, which is why I tried Vanicream for my face.

I have been using Cerave foam cleanser at night (I like) and just started using Cetaphil gentle cleanser in the morning but I may give Vanicream cleanser a try since I like the moisturizer so much.

I always thought my skin was somewhat sensitive but I think it is more sensitive than I thought.

All great suggestions. I use Vanicream cleanser and Tatcha indigo line, both are awesome for my sensitive skin. I don't use Vit C as it has always irritated my skin. One name I haven't seen mentioned is Avene, their products are great for sensitive skin.
