Do some boys skip the growth spurt?

It is pretty annoying for him and his family (expensive clothes, cannot fit into cars, worry about future health issues, gawking from others, etc.), but there is not much that can be done about it. Hopefully, your son will not end up that tall. FWIW, his mom is 5'11" and his dad is 6'4".

Nothing wrong with being 6’8 so no reason to hope OP’s kid won’t end up that tall.

Sounds like you do not have any personal experience with extreme height. It is what it is, but it is certainly not ideal. Of course, if a person can combine extreme height with extreme athleticism, then there could be a big payout.

Actually my teen is 6’7 and still growing. Sounds like you don’t understand how offensive you are being.

I don't think that the PP was offensive. My kid is projected to be 6'9" and I know that there are some challenges ahead.
My husband is 6'6" and there are lots of times that being tall is a PITA. Buying a car is limited unless you want a minivan or monster SUV, flying can be significantly more expensive, clothing/shoe options are a lot more limited (although a lot more options than 20 years ago), normal stadium and theater seats can be impossible to fit into. People over 6'5" rarely can just go to the Mall and pick up something they need. My son needs tall compression shirts and I spent over an hour finding one in his size in the right color.

It's not all sunshine and roses up there

I am from a family full of tall males. 6-5 up to 6-9.

It has inconveniences with certainty. In the era of online ordering, it's a hell of a lot better than it used to be. Also, there are really plenty of cars that fit tall people if you shop around some. Some SUVs are actually worse for this than a smaller car. (Just throwing in a tall person tip!) I think the PP was at least a tiny bit offensive. It's really not some massive cross to bear in life where the only way you can really make a go of it is if you make it to the NBA. Just kind of moronic more than offensive.

I don’t think too many people would think it’s a positive to be 6’9”. Any outlier has issues.

The line between offensive and not isn’t in the thought, it’s in the communication.
