DC Water is independent of the DC government. Do you have anything to contribute other than partisan drivel? |
| Just got an email that they are pausing implementation. |
Sorry you are being naive. Here is how the board is appointed, as copied from the DC Water website. DC Water is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of 11 principal and 11 alternate members. The Board is composed of six District of Columbia representatives, two each from Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland, and one from Fairfax County in Virginia. The Mayor of the District of Columbia appoints, and the DC Council confirms, all six District Board members and alternates, including the Chairman. In addition, the Mayor appoints the five principal and alternate members who represent the surrounding jurisdictions based on executive submissions from those jurisdictions. |
Copypasta is no substitute for logic. |
If you believe DC water is independent of the DC government, I have a bridge I'd like to sell you. |
There is no such thing as an independent agency of the DC government. They exist in the same way that unicorns exist. |
Same with us. I filed an appeal today and asked for it to either be restored to the prior level or for evidence to be provided that supports the alleged increase in surface area. |
It’s not part of the DC government, period. Do some research, please. |
Agreed. DC Water is an organ of the DC Democrat party. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves. |
I guarantee they were notified that a class action is forming. |
Same. Guess they read DCUM. 😂 |
This week. |
Someone could ask you about the differences between brachiosauruses and brontosauruses and you’d find a way to make it all about partisan politics. Stop trying to deal this thread with this idiotic nonsense. It’s boring and annoying, like a cracked record. |

NP - I also got one of the letters raising my score from 1.0 to 3.8 with no change in my property. This is based on a 2400 sq foot house with a driveway and patio. We have 2 rain barrels and pretty much all of our rain is collected onsite by the lawn or the rain barrels so I find the whole thing a money grab.
but here is my question. We are in ward 3. Did anyone outside of Ward 3 get one of these reevaluations or was this new math only applied to part of the city? Good to hear that they are delaying the implementation, but even with a delay, I can’t see how it’s economically viable to raise bills this much across the city. If that were the case I’d expect to see a Wash Post article about it by now. Or did DC water think they’d get away with it by only screwing the wealthier zip codes. |
1. The mayor appoints most of its board members who decide rates 2. Those appointments must be approved by the DC city council 3. The city council can pass laws that change how DC water operates 4. The city council can hold oversight hearings examining how DC water operates 5. The city council can demand information from DC water 6. DC water's budget is included in the city's budget |
