What's going on with Bates College?

Bates is a great school academically. But the location is a dump and the facilities are mediocre for the price tag. I was ACTUALLY stunned into silence when we were there at how much of a pit the town is and how sad the campus was.

Folks use the internet. Google "Bates College Agrees To Pay Former Coach's Children Sickened By Mold In College Owned House".

Bates College knew that the house had mold when it had the black football coach & his family move in.

Read the school newspaper which is full of articles regarding racial discrimination at Bates College and asks "What Else Is Bates Hiding?"

School newspaper articles accuse Bates Colege of being untruthful about racial integration at the school.

One of my kids very strongly considered Bates, and I had to look to see what’s “going on” … the school still has a very low less than 15% acceptance rate so I don’t think I get it.

My kid could have gone there very happily and just happened to have a better resonance with another NESCAC and that team. He also had a former teammate already there which helped.

Nice campus full of lots of the nicest, smartest, happiest kids you’d ever want to meet.

The binding ED early decision acceptance rate for Bates College class of 2026 was above 58%. This skews the overall acceptance rate downward.

Full pay & ED gets you in.

These are 4 of the most precious & formative years in one's young adulthood. Chose carefully.

I hope your kid is smarter than you because based on your tone and writing style, you are not very bright. Your tone and syntax is awful and you seem to have an issue with angst and a real chip on your shoulder. Given your lack of intellect I am surprised that a place like Bates is even on your radar. Did your car break down while driving through? Or did a Bates alum doing something bad to you?

Both articles are years old.

The first article is a whiny kid who feels that they cannot be both a minority and an athlete which is a “her” issue, not a school issue. Also, while they have a significant minority population Bates is still a PWI so I’m. It sure what they expected.

The second article is about Maine and Native Americans with a student complaining about a Bates professor acting as an expert witness. It has zero to do with racial integration.

Do better next time, posting junk and lying about it just gets you called out.
