Our agency head gave us 12/24 and 12/26 off.

An agency head can’t give full days off.

Ours did for Good Friday

Back when we had a nice Sec of Agriculture, he would give a full day off to use during the holidays at a time of our choice.

+1. I was thinking that too. You need some basic knowledge to troll.

I thought Mayorkas used to give DHS people a lot of days off or admin leave or something like that. I think they called them Mayorkas days and they called him Saint Mayorkas or something like that.

By nice you mean someone who goes beyond their authority and arguably violates the law?

I heard rumors that Christmas Eve was already confirmed off. Trump gave it to us twice during his first presidency.

Yes DHS used to get hours for special holidays

I’m not banking on us being off by the administration but hopefully we can be asked to telework

What happens if I have use-or-lose leave and I requested leave on December 24? Do I still need to use that day’s leave before January 10?

Of course they can. They give admin leave in whatever increment they want including multiple full days.

Our Secretary hasn't even given us 59 minutes for a holiday all year (although regular supervisors can give 59min). I was shocked at the 4th of July and Thanksgiving to not get 2 hours or 3 hours early release. I've been at my agency for almost 20 years and haven't ever not had anything.

Do you think that Canada is waiting for an opportune time to invade ?

Huh? No, federal workers just want to know if they will have a day off or whether they need to use leave or work that day. Usually the president closes the government on 12/26 when it’s a Friday, but federal workers have learned not to expect anything positive this year.

Didn't most Federal Workers just have 40 days of closure?

No, most Feds were working daily without knowing when the next paycheck would come.

No, most Feds weren’t working and knew they would get paid when the gov reopened.

AI says 53% were working. So you're wrong on the first part.

Well, if AI says it . . .

Maybe, but 95% of the people at both my agency and my partner’s were home.

My agency was mostly furloughed but I was still aware that over 50% of feds were working. It was widely reported in the news at the time.
