Love paying to spectate at a champs meet and they have no scoreboard running

oh BS. Most of the kids in winter classic- at least from the larger teams (e.g. Makos/ Marlins/ AAC/York) absolutely have KLI cuts. I don't know if 'all' of them do- but I would guess its pretty darn close. I don't know enough about the other teams to have an opinion.
Swim and Rock is a fantastic meet- but its nothing like winter classic. Swim and Rock was particularly fast this year, but if you look at what it took to make finals at swim and rock as compared to winter classic the times are multiple seconds apart.

Agree that Winter Classic is not at the same level as NCSAs, or maybe even KLI. However, I tend to think of Winter Classic as the same as a plain ole LSC meet with prelims/finals. It’s not much different than Swim and Rock last month or other prelim/final meets.

Because they are an NCAP parent that pays $$$$$. And they need to feel better about themselves. Plenty of kids at Winter Classic would have swam KLI. Definitely not all but who gives a damn? So you can "feel better" that your kid swam against fast kids? That you have to drive to Maryland from NCAP Burke, rent hotel rooms, deal with 495?

I'm happy you all have Turkey Claus/KLI. But stop putting down every other meet. Its pathetic.

Because people are trying to say they are the same - winter classic and KLI, they are not. KLI is a faster meet overall because it has NST in its events. And Turkey Clause iiss the balance of also being fast but not as fast as KLI.

I think the DCUM swim parents need their own meet. kids are fine, regardless of the meet. Parents? I'm not so sure.

My kid is from one of these larger teams and does not have KLI cuts until this year. They have been coach selected because they could make finals in a few events for the past four years and score points for the team. The majority of our team is probably the same. We do have some really fast kids. National level that could do well at KLI and do very well at Winter Classic. But even though we are a large team we would not have the numbers to send a real contingent to KLI so the meet would probably not be that great socially, etc. Looking at the teams you listed Makos, York, and AAC could probably send 25 kids to KLI each and Marlins perhaps 10. That is not a lot.

There is nothing wrong with this. We chose our club over Machine and NCAP for these kinds of reasons. Makos and York are amazing clubs but also have real team feels to them. Winter Classic is a fun meet and a great prelims/final format so it is an amazing opportunity for the invited clubs.
