Does your college class of 2026 kid have a job lined up yet?

Yes. Civil engineering. 3 offers.

I run a team of 50. We typically have entry level roles that open up during the summer when people in these roles head to grad school. Don’t panic about your kid yet.

They can be applying now but also, I agree, don't lose hope if not locked down yet. Yes, big companies with formal recruiting programs are hiring new grads now. But many, many companies just hire when they have a specific opening, which only happens when the person in that entry-level job moves on to something else

Utterly false when the market is new grads. Most kids have something lined up from the summer work. My UVA kid had a lock in December on a position (think tank). Second child was lined up by GMU for Microsoft at this same time.

+1

Class of 2026 grads started seeking internships in September 2023 for Summer 24 work, then were offered an internship slot for Summer 25, and then full-time employment offers for grads started in fall 2025.
