Does your college class of 2026 kid have a job lined up yet?

DD is panicking. Had a summer internship that went well but doesn't give return offers.

She is currently interning part-time at a good firm but heard they don't give many conversions to full-time as it's on an as-need basis.

Hiring is down and doesn't look good.

Nope and same. Applied to 100+ jobs already, some interviews, no offers, lots of ghosting

My 2028 kid on the college quarter system (so home for 7 weeks) hasn't even been able to get a seasonal job. Applied for 60+ temporary help jobs and has a decent work history.
It's crazy.

My guess is the kids who majored in something specific and pre professional - acctng finance cyber IT data cs marketing and did well in school are going to land a job easily. I think liberal arts kids are the ones who apply to 100 roles and don’t land easily just because their education is non specific to industry and they themselves may not yet be dialed into what they want to do as a first job. They will be fine. Just give them more time.
