Here are the others campaigning for the seat:
Micah Lasher, 43, a state assemblyman and Nadler protégé from the West Side
Alex Bores, 35, a state assemblyman from the East Side
Jami Floyd, 61, a veteran journalist and lawyer
Alan Pardee, 58, a former financial executive
Erik Bottcher, 46, a West Side City Council member
Liam Elkind, a 26-year-old nonprofit founder, announced his campaign before Mr. Nadler said he would retire.

OP here.

Are you fully ignorant of American history? Some of the greatest politicians we’ve had, who’ve done the most for regular American people, were nepo babies with silver spoons in their mouths at birth.

Ever heard of Franklin Delano Roosevelt?

ANY American citizen has the right to run for public office, and I’ve got more confidence in a young lawyer who comes from a storied political family responsible for civil rights and voting rights advances as well as being largely responsible for the Affordable Care Act and who has access to great wealth and thus no need to grift like the current occupant of the White House and too many members of Congress have done.

Why don’t you just come right out and say you hate the Kennedys and the agenda they’ve historically stood for, which is mostly about improving the lives of working class and minority Americans.

I just don’t like rich or privileged people or people who grew up privileged. I’m bigoted against one group: spoiled brats.

So tired of the Kennedy clan. Their time is past.

Pretty sure this is his public image. He is not a serious person, he's a flake, his family is insane with prime example being RFK Jr. His mom is another story. She ought to run for president.

Why do you say Caroline ought to run for President? How old are you? I am assuming you are on the younger side and missed the brief time when she tried to run for the NY senate seat?

Actually, I'm probably much older than you, haha.

On a more serious note, the comment was mostly rhetorical. However, Caroline co-wrote two books with Ellen Alderman, which explore our democracy. The titles are, In Our Defense: The Bill of Rights in Action (1991) and The Right To Privacy (1995). These are subjects we as Americans should be very concerned about in an era where our civil rights are being trampled. When I searched for the titles of these books, I learned she has written quite a few books in a wide range of subjects. She has also served as ambassador to Australia and Japan. So she is not a lightweight, even if she has not served in office.

You realize those are two countries where the ambassador is usually a donor or friend, right?

So scary for Trump

You know he'd like to groom Barron fir this sort of thing but he's got the charisma of a store mannequin.

Like it or not, it takes money to run for office--our elected officials will be disproportionately rich until the campaign finance system changes (not happening anytime soon). Jack Schlossberg has called out his crazy brain worm cousin RFK Jr. and he seems like a smart enough person, and it's good for younger people to reinvigorate the Democratic party.

I'm not a NYer anymore, but I think it's a good thing he's running.

Given that you are not a NYer anymore, then you are unaware that there are at least three other candidates in the race who are currently elected officials, all doing good work for NYC. Largely love Schlossberg’s social media, but this is way outside of his lane.

Just posted - there are great candidates already in the race, all elected, who work every day to improve the lives of working class and minority Americans. There is no shortage of qualified candidates for this race.

Well, no Honest Abe for you then.

Any American who wishes to run for public office and meets the basic requirements has the right to file and run. It is not outside anyone’s lane.

This “kid” needs a psychological exam. And a job.

If someone with his digital footprint is electable it will show we have reached the point of having zero standards for people in public office in this country.

I mean, clearly electing the vocal pussy-grabber proved this country's standards were low. I guess we have deteriorated from low to none over the course of the Trump era.

Anonymous wrote:And as far as qualifications - Schlossberg has a JD-MBA and has been a Senate page and Senate intern. His grand uncle and godfather was the lion of the Senate when he was a kid, and he has multiple cousins who have been Congressmen. Lots of folks run successfully for Congress with less prior experience of the institution than he has. AOC was a bartender and she’s done very well for her district.

Nevermind MTG and Boebert and any other number of House members who had zero prior political experience before running.

Really, what a silly assertion.

Going from bartender to Congress requires a lot more hard work than Kennedy to Congress. This kid has no hustle and is weird.

Elkind allegedly changed his address to Lasher's assembly district and will probably run for that seat.

Had not heard that Floyd was making a run for the seat. Perhaps that's why she has not been on WNYC for the last few years or so. Pardee doesn't have much of a track record in a crowded field. Bores is nice but limited policy experience. Bottcher and Lasher fairly comparable though Lasher worked in Albany as Bloomberg's LD when mayor and Hochul's policy director. My bets on Lasher.
