We would pay as well, because we can afford it. But fact remains most families CANNOT do that. Most kids leave undergrad with debt and parents cannot/do not help with graduate/professional school. Do you want future doctors to only come from rich families? Because many "could afford to help some" but instead smartly choose to prepare for their own retirement. Fact remains a 22+ yo is not the responsibility of their parents. they are an adult and you should not consider parental worth when applying FA. |
Then I’d argue they should not give any FA at all. How many 22 yo old is able to pay 400k tuition? I realize you don’t want to pay but someone needs to pay. Btw, we are certainly not rich (gs fed and health care worker) but we saved like crazy. Our retirement saving is fine too. |
