15 wow Our first got submitted this evening. |
| How does one do 20 EA or ED schools? Assuming these schools don’t have restrictions to apply to other colleges EA or ED unlike Harvard/Yale//Princeton REA with restrictions on applying to other colleges (unless public non binding/international). Mine was only able to apply to 2. |
You could apply to 1 ED school and however many EA schools you want. Your child could have applied to more. |
| My son did REA Yale and with restrictions on not applying to any other EA/ED schools other than publics with non-binding EA or international schools, he was limited in his choices. |
Yeah my kid could only do UVA EA and an Ivy. No other non-binding Publics had EA that he wanted to apply to. If you are applying to mostly privates you wouldn’t be able to do many. |
Just curious which Ivy along with an UVA application? We wanted to do an Ivy with UVA but didn’t… |
Well, he could have applied to more he just didn’t want to. Public schools with non-binding EA that a lot of Ivy applicants apply to are UCLA, Cal, UVA, Michigan, UT Austin and their state flagship. |
| This is why you start over the summer with essay prep. Mine had everything done but end of September so she could enjoy senior year without added pressure of applications. |

Done:
1 Canadian school UCAS app with 5 schools (it is one app and one fee for 5 schools) 1 ED 3 EA In progress: 2 RD that have to be in during Nov for scholarship consideration Glimpse videos UC app due 12/1 14 RD schools that may thin or disappear entirely depending on how December goes. 1 UCAS acceptance almost immediately. Applying to a good number of reach schools, all have strong programs in DC’s areas of interest and DC understands how arbitrary the process can be. Also spent a lot of time identifying a couple of strong low targets that DC would be happy to attend (hopefully with merit) and showing demonstrated interest in those. These are the hardest to identify and are very program specific. This is a slog that requires project management skills and the supplementals are a lot of work. We help with project management and DC has been working hard for a while and navigated the entire UCAS process solo. We absolutely gave feedback on essays but DC wrote them. They are unique and their voice. DC scoffs at the idea that AI could write a stand out essay. Good luck to all in this crazy process. This is our last time through it. I think DC was more open to our support after watching their sibling navigate it a few years ago. |

So glad we are done. My DC worked so hard, I am very proud of them (and surprised because they're not normally so motivated to do things early).
2 rolling admissions 1 ED 7 EA. |

I tried to help a student through a volunteer program - applying TO to STEM programs (none seem like safeties) and didn’t have info in draft essay or ECs to support that. As of Friday no supplementals were written, but then cancelled meeting with me on Saturday because all EA applications were now submitted.
I hope it all works out. If the student gets in it will make me reconsider all the angst we on DCUM go through preparing applications. |
| What is STARS |
| One and done! |
Agree on MI. It's just one of many that seemed to have a lot more supplemental essay questions than what I recalled with my older DC. |
Duh?! If only everyone were so compliant! |
