Uh, how is a president supposed to STOP developing technology? As I recall, Biden called for large investments in workforce training to help people being displaced by robotics and other advanced technologies, which includes AI.

And Hillary offered to retrain the coal miners.

This still makes my blood boil because they said she was ridiculous and look at how Trump and Vance treat the coal miners!

I do feel bad for your kids - they didn’t choose this. But if you are a republican voter/MAGA who voted for Trump and use SNAP or ACA or work for the government - how could you? Do you think voting against your own self interest was smart? These things only matter when it affects you directly right?

It’s funny that you think Republican voters on SNAP read DCUM.

To quote Judge Judy, "Dumb is forever.". Voting for trump in 2016 is forgivable but voting for him on 2024 then you get everything you deserve.

There were alternatives. I have friends who are Reagan Republicans and they either wrote in a candidate or did not vote for President.

Cue the poster who comes into all of these discussions and blames everything Trump does on the fact that Dems nominated Harris and "not a better candidate."

+1 I was just reading that teachers in Missouri are on SNAP because they're so underpaid. Ignorant! Plenty of teachers on DCUM.

??
Are you unaware that the GOP is in the driver’s seat to govern the country?

More relevant, what is the GOP plan?

lol... Harris has more brains in her big toe than Trump and Biden do combined. Now, go find yourself a brain.

Is it any president's job to stop a private company from running more efficiently?

Trump clearly thinks it is his. From ordering coal plants to remain open to calling for them to fire people or taking an equity stake in their business.

In every other shutdown, a clean CR was the compromise.

In every other shutdown, the president didn't explicitly state that he is just going to unilaterally decide not to spend Congressionally-appropriated funds on things he doesn't like.

What's the incentive for Democrats to negotiate with Republicans as long as that is on the table?

Safe to say, everyone with at least half a brain will be voting out all current Congressional members the next chance they get to.

Sadly, Republican politicians manage to easily dupe those half-brained voters year in and year out.

95% of the time when a GOP or Dem politician is supported by regular people, it is a matter of people being duped into voting for something that is in conflict with their interests. The wealthy political mega-donors are priority number one for 95% of our Congress members. This truth hurts but we shouldn't ignore it.

This. People underestimate the amount of ignorance that is out there regarding how things are really going because the average MAGA voter is only seeing Fox News, Sinclair media and whatever the right wing social media troll machine is ginning out---which will continue to focus on culture war issues designed to rile up the base. Those incumbents count on the toxicity of having a "D" next to your name in rural states to keep them in office.

No. Stop both-sidesing this and making excuses for Republicans actively making their constituents' lives worse.

Making up statistics is such a tell for a MAGA voter. Also way to both sides the money in past administrations to 2025 MAGA politics.
