| You voted for this. Especially republican voters who are in SNAP or work for the federal government or use ACA health insurance. No sympathy at all. Sucks to be you. I do feel bad for your kids - they didn’t choose this. But if you are a republican voter/MAGA who voted for Trump and use SNAP or ACA or work for the government - how could you? Do you think voting against your own self interest was smart? These things only matter when it affects you directly right? |

Republicans have been looking to shut down SNAP for 40 years. Now they will do it and pretend somehow it's because of the shutdown and the democrats fault even though USDA has reserve funds to keep SNAP going and even though there was never a stop in SNAP assistance during previous shutdowns.
They are out there claiming ACA caused insurance costs to go up but what have Republicans ever done to fix healthcare costs? ACA came out 15 years ago, Republicans have had all that time since and numerous opportunities to come up with something better, but have utterly failed to come up with anything at all. So now the subsidies will go away and that WILL cause many peoples' insurance to go up significantly and STILL the Republicans have no proposal to fix it. Their answer and entire approach seems to be "do nothing, get rid of government intervention and trust the market" - but the market only cares about profits, not people. And history proves this out, time and time again. The market doesn't care if the poor starve or go without healthcare. There's no money to be made off of the poor. There's no market incentive. |

They had plans to boost education so people had options outside of the silo they were working in because they knew how to use their minds, but the GOP has been dismantling and underfunding education for decades. The CHIPS act also was designed to bring actual manufacturing jobs to the US, but Trump's tariffs and ICE actions have undermined that. |

This is why I don’t feel sorry for Republicans. Because no matter what you say to show them how Trump is destroying our country, they will turn it around on how awful Biden was on some obscure, unrelated topic. I know no one who voted for Trump who regrets their vote. It’s mind boggling but true. So no sympathy here either. They seem happy to take the beatings that Trump doles out as long as immigrants are still being deported and trans kids can’t play sports. |
