| For private school kids at my DD’s high school who couldn’t get into Wisconsin. Seems prestigious (Will and Kate) but not for best and brightest by a mile. |
LOL, you guys are really reaching -- about a school you care nothing about apparently. |
Trying to understand how this is different from paying tuition by credit card in the US. Is it because St. Andrews doesn't tack on a 3% surcharge for credit card transactions? |
I don’t think all US colleges allow credit card charges for payment even with a fee, or do they? |
My kid visited both and picked StA over Wisco. To each their own. |
Correct. They don’t charge 3%. |
They don't allow it at all. |
Do you pick last possible exam date w/o knowing the schedule & hope for the best? Or change flights if needed? |
Book first morning after last possible exam. It's late - like Dec 23rd? This is only our second year - last year I stressed about this, now I know they'd rather stay on campus than come home early. They're home for a long break - classes start back jan 26th I think . (They changed the calendar a year or so ago after a student survey). If exams end earlier, kids have already semi-planned a pre-holiday trip. They take advantage of cheap flights, that's for sure. But that's how we do it. Some people get changeable flights. |
The former, but we purchase tickets that allow changes without penalties. These are always expensive. I’ve NEVER found tickets for less than $1,000, and those around the Holidays are typically much pricier. |
College balls are standard UK university traditions. The UK does a lot more balls as a social event and they're quite fun. |
No, they don't. For tuition or housing. |
To be fair, we’re in nyc and direct flights probably cheaper from here |
| At our small NYC private 15+ girls are applying - I think more than any other school. It's super popular for private school kids who are used to a cosseted environment, although not necessarily their first choice. My dd isn't applying bc she would be happy at UT-Austin but many of her private school friends do not want a state university. They want to feel like they are at a posh, exclusive school. |

it's literally the same person with multiple personality disorder replying to themselves.
Genuinely sad. See lsat post of thread here. |
